The pantry received more than 4,700 pounds of venison from the Harold Hoey chapter of Whitetails Unlimited for the “Share the Harvest” program. It will be distributed to families who utilize the pantry’s services. Missouri’s Share the Harvest program helps deer hunters donate surplus venison. It is administered by the Conservation Federation of Missouri and the Missouri Department of Conservation. According to MDC, hunters donated 289,292 pounds of venison in 2017. Hunters take their deer to an approved meat processor, such as Slater Food Bank which processed this donation, and allocate how much of the meat they want donated. Community Food Pantry is located at 165 W. Morgan St.
