“Longest Day of the Year”

We really have been having it easy around here lately. The night I wrote you, I had guard with the mortar, then that next day we just laid around and some more of the guys went into Saigon to call home.

Last night I sat in on a card game, then went to bed and got to sleep all night again. Today I got up about 7 a.m., went to chow and had to pull a small detail. Since then I can’t say what I have done because it hasn’t been anything. I did read some magazines, then got your letter, so now I am answering it. It does tend to get boring around here, but I don’t mind it at all. Everyone is catching up on their rest and enjoying it all.

We just got word that we are supposed to be moving about the 23rd and I think we will be moving south again somewhere below where we were before.

God Keep you all.

Your loving son, Richard
