A 29-year-old business changed hands Thursday, Sept. 20, when Larry Farris handed the keys of Larry’s Detail Service to a new owner.

“It’s just been great to provide service to our community and take care of people,” Farris said, noting that the experience has been bittersweet.

Farris sold the detail company to Ryan Teel, who said he has been around cars his entire life.

“I’ve been in car sales for the last six years, worked at all three dealerships here in town,” he explained. “I detailed cars at my dad’s, and worked on and built cars before that. So, I’ve been around cars and been in this place since I was a little kid.”

Multiple services are offered on site, including auto cleanup, window tinting, custom accessories, headliners and U-haul rental. Farris will keep operating Farris Motors on the same lot.

The sale of the detail service will allow him to spend more time providing a different service.

“I’ve been here 29-and-a-half years,” he said. “It’s time for me to kind of switch hats and help more at Hartland, since we’ve owned that for nine years. I want to do more work there.”

Hartland Residential Care Center is a residential care facility that accommodates up to 12 residents with 24-hour assistance. Farris said he feels Teel will continue to provide customers a good experience, and Teel seemed up to the challenge.

“I’m excited to take the place over and start a new chapter — continue the great service that’s been provided up here and make everything bigger and better,” Teel said.

Larry’s Detail Service is located at 202 N. Lafayette Ave., in Marshall.

Hours are currently set at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturdays from 8 to noon.
