Archaeology Day planned at Van Meter State Park
Van Meter State Park will host “Archaeology Day” from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15. According to information from the Missouri State Parks website, various tables and activities will be set up at the large shelter house. Activities include atlatl throwing, spear making crafts, and archaeology in a box.
Then, from 2-3 p.m. in the Missouri’s American Indian Cultural Center, Archaeologist Jack Ray will give a lecture about excavations he has recently done in the park. All ages are welcome to participate, and the park encourages families to bring a picnic lunch.
