Slater FFA farm management team wins state competition
COLUMBIA — The Slater FFA Chapter placed first in the farm management career development event at the 90th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 45 teams in the competition.
The winning team members are Ben Borgman, Cassie Eddy, Jaylee Hazell and Johnny Johnson. Individually, Borgman placed first, Eddy placed third, Hazell placed 11th and Johnson placed 33rd out of 168 participants. The Slater FFA advisor is Zach Crews.
Individuals in this contest analyzed real-life business problems and completed a detailed exam to prove their understanding of economic principles. Participants used what they learned in their agricultural business classes to compete. Skills the students apply in the event will help them face even greater challenges in their professional lives.
Sponsored by University of Missouri, Columbia, College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage students in learning and make real connections to lifetime goals.
