Thursday, February 26, 2015

The Saline County Commission met Thursday, Feb. 26, where Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey presented Grace Miles with a special recognition for her service, being elected county collector in November 2002.

"Grace Miles has faithfully served her fellow citizens for 36 years in her positions at Saline County Extension Office as deputy collector and county collector," Guthrey read in the proclamation. "The county of Saline wishes to convey deep appreciation to County Collector Grace Miles, for her distinguished service to our community and manner in which she has carried out her duties, while serving as Saline County Collector."

After the recognition the commission resumed business as usual where they reviewed bids for printing financial statements from The Slater Main-Street News and Green Printers. The commission also pre-approved its payment schedule and payroll along with any payment orders associated with the payroll, as well as approved a personnel change. Clyde Riley has completed his probationary period of employment and is now "full fledged," according to Guthrey.

County Clerk Debbie Russell noted that absentee voting began Tuesday in the County Clerk's office. She noted the last day to register to vote is Wednesday, March 11, at 5 p.m. for the April 7 municipal election.
