Slater's Pemberton signs with Valley

Friday, May 30, 2014
Slater senior Caleb Pemberton has signed an NAIA letter-of-intent to join the Missouri Valley College men's basketball team. The 6-1 guard averaged over 18 points per game last season to earn all-Lewis and Clark Conference first-team honors. He has been a four-year letterman for the Wildcats. The versatile athlete finished his career with over 1,000 points, was an all-conference second-team cornerback in football and qualified for the MSHSAA Class 1 Track and Field Championships in the 110-meter high and 300 intermediate hurdles. Taking part in the signing ceremony were (bottom row, from left) Pemberton, mother Cindy Beltz, (top row) Valley graduate assistant Preston Hyde, stepfather Rex Beltz, father Tim Pemberton, Slater head coach John Roberts, Wildcats assistant coach Stefan Jackson and MVC assistant Ramone Powell. The Vikings are coming off a 15-15 campaign under head coach Chad Lance, who holds the program's record for wins with 158 over 11 seasons. (MVC Athletics)
