'Cats get 12 medals at Marceline
MARCELINE -- Slater track and field athletes picked up a dozen medals Tuesday at the Marceline Invitational.
The Wildcats' lone gold medalist was junior Caleb Pemberton in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles (44.42 seconds). He was also fourth in the 110 high hurdles (18.06).
The Purple boys got two medals from sophomore Cole Skinner, third in the 300 hurdles (45.49) and fifth in the triple jump (36 feet, 5.25 inches), and a fourth place from sophomore Spencer Peel in the 400 (56.10).
Junior Shay Babcock was a three-time medalist for the Lady 'Cats: fourth in the 800 (2:43.91) and long jump (14-2.25) and fifth in the triple jump (30-9.5).
Freshman Krysta Cramer was fifth in the 100 (14.45) and sixth in the 200 (30.69) and two Slater girls placed in the discus: fifth for freshman Jordan Allen (85-8) and sixth for junior Mary Rose Gonzalez (84-4).
Next up for the 'Cats is the Northwestern Relays, Monday at Mendon.
