Michael D. "Mike" Stinson, 67, of Marshall, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at his home.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, with the Rev. Marlin Brown officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice or the Music and Theater Department of Missouri Valley College in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Born Dec. 23, 1945, in Independence, he was the son of the late Walter Dale Stinson and Dorothy Johnson Stinson, who survives of the state of California. On Sept. 4, 1965, he married Martha Rose Kueker, who survives of the home. He was a 1963 graduate of El Camino High School in El Camino, Calif. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri Valley College in 1967 and earned his master's degree from University of Central Missouri. He began his teaching career in the Slater School District, and then was employed with the Marshall School District for 31 years, retiring in 2001. Following his retirement, he then served as an instructor at Missouri Valley College for several years. He was very active in his children's life, helping as a Liberty 4-H Leader, coaching T-ball in Sweet Springs and working Royals and Chiefs games as a fundraiser for the Sweet Springs School District, as well as many other activities. He was also active in the Marshall School District where he coached eighth grade football at Bueker Middle School. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marshall for many years where he had served on numerous boards and committees.

In addition to his mother and wife; he is survived by one son, Michael Todd Stinson and his wife, Heather, of Olathe, Kan.; one daughter, Kerie Ann Stinson of Sedalia; two granddaughters, Grace and Ella; one sister, Kristen Mesa of Benecia, Calif.; one brother, Craig Stinson of Salt Lake City, Utah; as well as nieces and nephews.
