Peyton Milligan accepts appointment to the United States Air Force Academy
Peyton Milligan, a Lee's Summit High School senior, has accepted an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Milligan follows a family tradition of those serving in the military. His father, Colonel Rick Milligan, recently retired from the Air Force after serving 24 years and his grandfather and great-uncles all served.
"The Air Force Academy will provide rigorous academics, leadership skills and opportunities that are unmatched, and it just seems like the best step for my future and I'm excited for the challenge." Milligan said.
He has attended three high schools in the past four years, O'Fallon Township High School at Scott AFB, Ill., Knob Noster High School at Whiteman AFB and will be graduating from Lee's Summit High School this May. He is a three year letterman in varsity football and also lettered in wrestling and baseball. He has maintained a 4.0+ GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society and attended Missouri Boys State. Recent awards include all-state academic in football, all-conference honorable mention Missouri Class 6 (WR). He has been invited to join the Falcon football team following basic cadet training which starts June 27.
Peyton lives in Greenwood with his parents, Rick and Carol Milligan. He has two siblings, Kyler and Erica. He is the grandson of Bobby and Sarah Jones of Marshall and Norma Milligan of Sumter, S.C.
