Marshall Circle No. 535, Daughters of Isabella

Marshall Circle No. 535, Daughters of Isabella met at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Knights of Columbus Hall in Marshall.

Vice Regent Maureen Burks called the meeting to order. The prayers were led by Chancellor Helen Girard. Pledge to the Flag was given, and roll call of officers showed eight present, two excused and two absent.

The circle Chaplain, Father Kevin Gormley was present and he reported on sick parishioners.

Judy Mark read the minutes of the November meeting. Mildred Gilliam gave the treasurer's report.

The state newsletter from Father Timothy Armbruster, state chaplain, and Mary Jo Ballenger was read. A thank-you note from the JM Foundation for the $100 donation was received.

Mark took the Vocation Cross.

The circle voted to reimburse Judy Mark $13 for the Christmas Turkey. There was also a vote that meat be furnished by the Circle for future parties and events. A donation was received from Barbara Wright.

There was a lengthy discussion regarding payment of bills not voted on before purchase. There is a bill pending for Christmas items.

According to a vote of the circle, members will attend 7 p.m. mass on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 13, and meet for business session afterwards.

Workers volunteered to work at the K of C shrimp dinner.

Jane Weeks was reinstated and welcomed to the circle.

Following the business session, Maureen Burks served refreshments and sponsored a game.

In lieu of the December meeting, a carry-in dinner was served to members and guests.

Santa Clause made and appearance and several games were played.
