Saline County Health Department sees spike in STD testing

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Saline County Health Department Administrator Lisa Thomas reported a spike in sexual transmitted disease testing during the Tuesday, June 26, regularly scheduled board of trustees meeting.

She said the rise was likely due to the promotion the health department did for STD awareness month in May. Also, she noted college students may have pursued testing before returning home for the summer.

Thomas reported the department's total income for May was $44,023.88 with $72,884.03 total expenses. She said the spike in this month's expenses was due to a third pay period.

"I don't understand why when you get an extra pay period in a month you never get any extra money," she mused.

She also said the department had generated $572,052.80 in total income,$422,534.93 in total expenses and $149,517.87 net income so far for 2012.

With no new or old business to discuss, the meeting adjourned.
