Library friends group takes shape (Update 9:35 a.m. April 10)

Monday, April 9, 2012

Support for Marshall Public Library seems to be expanding as rapidly as the facility's redesign took place.

Currently, the Marshall Public Library Friends group is in development as an active membership organization meant to support services offered by MPL. The friends group differs from the Marshall Public Library Foundation, a 501 c (3) nonprofit that supports capital improvements of the building.

Friends who donate an annual membership fee receive benefits in return. During a special meeting held Friday, April 6, board members approved the first benefit, which allows supporters into the library's pre-book sale.

MPL now has book sales each quarter, the next scheduled for Friday, April 13. Friends will have the opportunity to select items Friday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The board convened in closed session to discuss personnel matters. The next regular meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10.
