Just before 12:30 p.m., fire fully engulfed a 1998 Dodge pick-up Monday afternoon, Oct. 31. After the vehicle overturned on Route 240 near Gilliam, it charred a utility pole and began spreading across a field.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, driver Dennis Page, 54, traveled off the right side of the road and struck a culvert, causing it to overturn and catch on fire.

A line of traffic congested the highway, as Slater Fire Department, Slater EMS and Saline County Ambulance District 3 were on scene, in addition to the Highway Patrol. Page and a passenger, Carolyn A. Harris, 59, both sustained minor injuries and were transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital for treatment, according to the report.
