Commission discusses collapsed bridge, approves tourism resolution

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner announced a road closure at 220th Road just north of Highway 41 due to a collapsed bridge at the regular commission meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

"They're going to try and make some temporary repairs, and get it back open for the harvest season," Fenner said. "... It's probably been traveled by semi (trucks) for years and years, and it's just one too many times."

The commission also approved a resolution recognizing the Marshall Chamber of Commerce as the single representative organization to solicit and service tourism in Saline County for participation in the Missouri Division of Tourism's Cooperative Marketing Program. The resolution cites the organization has shown and demonstrated evidence of its ongoing tourism marketing activities for the promotion of Saline County.

Northern District Commissioner Norvelle Brown was absent. The next regularly scheduled commission meeting is Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 9 a.m.
