The Gun Store targets Marshall shooters
The Gaba family likes to keep busy.
The Gun Store, which is owned by Greg Gaba and managed by his son, Jeremy, opened its doors on Friday, May 14.
Located next to Golf and Fitness Warehouse on S. Odell, the store fills a void.
We already had the building, said Jeremy Gaba. "The store fills a need left since the last gun store in town closed."
Racks line the west and north walls of the store with various rifles and shotguns on display as Gaba walks up and down the counter answering questions and talking to customers. Two long glass cases serve as the service counter. One case is filled with assorted handguns and the other with scopes.
"I've worked for Dad since '94," Gaba said. "In 2006 we opened the restaurant and three months later I found out I was having twins."
"It keeps me busy."
Having what he describes as a great location is one of the factors that went into the decision to open the store.
"You have to pass us on your way in and out of Marshall," Gaba said. "It's a great spot."
A long-time avid shooter and hunter Gaba is learning the paperwork side of the gun business, while his wife, Heather, handles the books.
Friend and employee Brian McDaniel brings years of experience to the store, Gaba said.
The Gun Store will work with outside trainers to offer classes and training such as the required training for concealed carry permits, he said.
The Gun Store hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the week and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekends.
