SLATER -- Freshman Chelsey Anderson pitched her first career shutout Saturday, allowing only two hits and striking out nine during the Marshall softball team's 10-0 victory at Slater -- making up the washed out season opener.

Junior Jessica Harriman's two-run single in the top of the first inning gave the Lady Owls the lead, with another RBI single capping a three-run second by driving in freshman Kelsey Griffin after she had tripled in a pair of runs.

Anderson knocked in a run with a double in the fourth, Harriman doubled and scored on senior Ali Brumit's single in the sixth and freshman Emily Aldredge finished the scoring with an RBI single in the seventh.

Marshall (2-8), which hosts Warrensburg today, banged out 12 hits to snap a six-game losing streak.

Senior Kayla Morton and sophomore Hannah Doherty both singled in the fifth for the Lady Wildcats' only hits. Slater (0-6), charged with a season-low four errors, plays Tuesday at Westran.
