Front matter

Happy second day of summer! Summer reading at Marshall Public Library is off to a good start. The following names are children who completed week one activity sheets and got to put a scale on our dragon poster. Sarah Bentley, Kieran Brennan, Savanna Brown, Halley Campbell, Elizabeth Hall, Mary Hall, Jessica Harlow, Nick Lueck, Katie Miles, Margaret Miles, Savannah Pannell, Sydnee Reed, Dylan Rogers, Emily Rogers, Luke Rogers, Jared Smith, Joel Smith, and Mollie Swift.

Congratulations! We hope that our dragon will be covered with scales by the end of the summer reading program. Next week, we will be featuring a program called "Daring Deeds: Fractured Fairy Tales and Comic Book Heroes" at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, with a comic book give-away. We are overflowing with comic books so come and get them!

Also next Tuesday, we are featuring one of our local authors in a book signing. The University of Missouri Press has published Authorene Phillips' book titled "Arrow Rock: The Story of a Missouri Village." A retired secondary English/speech teacher, Authorene lives here in Marshall and will be speaking about her book at the Marshall Public Library on Tuesday, June 28, at 6:30 p.m., followed by a book signing session. The books will be available for purchase at the library.
