Earl Ray, 73, of Richmond, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 18, at Snow Funeral Home in Richmond. Rev. Harold Martin will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Brian Prewitt, Adam Prewitt, Timothy Ray, Robert Ray Jr., Kyle Ray and Mike Hack. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Richmond. Memorials are suggested to the Ray County Cancer Society.
Born April 3, 1930, in Higginsville, he was the son of the late William Ray and Agnes Guyton Ray. On May 20, 1992, he married Helen Shaner, who survives of the home. He had lived in Ray County most of his life. He was a carpenter, retiring in 1995, and member of Higginsville Baptist Church.
Additional survivors include one son, Robert A. Ray Sr. of Richmond; one stepson, Forrest Shaver of Richmond; two daughters, Earlene Rinehart of Marshall and Linda Prewitt of Savannah; one sister, Dorothy Hedrick of Raytown; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Ray, and three grandchildren.
