Burglaries reported in Arrow Rock

Friday, November 2, 2001

Two businesses in the historic village of Arrow Rock were apparently targets of burglars during the overnight hours Wednesday, said Sheriff Wally George.

A Saline County Sheriff's Department officer was dispatched early Thursday to investigate a report of a break-in at Ye Old Ice Cream Shoppe on Main Street.

The suspect or suspects apparently gained entry through a rear door and small bills and change totaling $187.50 was taken from a cash register in the restaurant.

While investigating the break-in, the officer was contacted by Clay Marsh, owner of the Old Tavern across Main Street from the ice cream shop.

Marsh reported that a suspect or suspects had also broken into the tavern overnight and taken a cash register valued at approximately $150. Nothing else was reported missing.

As in the other break-in, the suspect or suspects gained entry through a rear door.

An investigation is continuing in both cases.
