MVC to hold ribbon cutting event Sept. 20 for new residence hall

Missouri Valley College along with the Marshall Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the official opening of the Porter-Brown Rodeo Residence Hall with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a Chamber Afterhours event. The ceremony will take from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at 1887 S. Lincoln Ave next to the Mack Porter Stables. Following a tip, Marshall Police arrested a 22-year-old woman on suspicion of felony drug possession at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25. Danielle Walker, of San Antonio, Texas, was taken into custody in the 1200 block of S. Redman after Boomer, Marshall's drug dog, alerted to drugs in her car. Unemployment rate climbs, experts say not to worry

Saline County unemployment numbers climbed again in July to the highest level of the calendar year at 8.6 percent, according to data released by Missouri Economic Research and Information Center.
