Warrants issued for Marshall man accused of DWI

Two arrest warrants were issued Wednesday, May 5, for Santiago Ubaldo-Rita, 38, of Marshall, who is charged in two separate cases with class C felony driving while intoxicated, once in January and once in February. Ubaldo-Rita, who has a history of DWI arrests dating from 1997, was taken into custody on New Year's Day following a complaint by a Marshall woman that she did not want him in her home...

Newscope: 2 blood drives in area this week

The American Red Cross will host two blood drives in the area this week, including one Thursday, May 6, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Depot Community Center in Blackwater, and one Friday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Glasgow High School in Glasgow.

Sharp turn leaves truck blocking traffic on Boyd and Miami (Local News ~ 05/06/10)
A food-grade tank truck's sharp turn from North Miami Avenue onto West Boyd Street left its front wheels spinning in the air Thursday, May 6, as it blocked both roadways. After the driver apparently missed the first available turn of only 90 degrees from Miami Avenue to Boyd Street, his attempt to take the following acute turn after the Sinclair gas station at about 10:35 a.m. resulted in the support stands of its tank scraping the highest point of the road, leaving it stranded... -
County commission announces road closing

Saline County Commissioners announced the temporary closing of 275th Road between Holly and Harvest avenues at their meeting Thursday morning, May 6. Commissioners said the road has not been draining well and is therefore washing away. Several loads of gravel have been added, but have not improved the situation. MVC rodeo team provides muscle for Dominican Republic hospital project (Local News ~ 05/06/10)
Marshall's post office has housed medical equipment in its fallout shelter since the 1950s and 1960s, and on Tuesday, May 4, it was removed and sent to a hospital in the Dominican Republic. South Kansas City Rotary Club member John Duffey oversaw the loading of the equipment by about 10 Missouri Valley College Rodeo Team members, who carried boxes big and small, heavy and light, up a long flight of stairs and into a waiting semi trailer... -
Wonder Dog Day returns May 8 for second year

Friends of Jim the Wonder Dog is sponsoring the second Wonder Dog Day Saturday, May 8, from noon to 2 p.m. The event will take place on North Lafayette Avenue in Marshall in front of Jim the Wonder Dog Memorial Garden. MHS tennis: Owls complete NCMC run

The Marshall boys' tennis team finished running the table on the NCMC in dual matches Wednesday with a 12-0 victory over visiting Fulton. It was the Owls' third shutout in league play and 10th overall in 19 contests, but it didn't come easily against a squad which they beat last year only by tiebreaker in a 6-6 tilt...
