Missouri State Senator David Pearce read to children at Hardeman R-10 School as part of the "Read for the Record" campaign on Thursday morning, Oct. 27. Pearce read "The Bear Ate Your Sandwich," by Julia Sarcone-Roach, to kindergarteners, first- and second-graders. Children also received their own copies of the books to take home. Pearce noted books were paid for by the Missouri State Board of Education and Missouri teachers. According to its website, "Read for the Record" is a national campaign that addresses educational inequities among young children and is part of the world's largest reading experience.
