May Your Days be Merry and Bright ....

As I write this the snow is piling up outside with the season's first winter storm. I can see it blowing across the fields and past the church; I can hear the wind whistling as it buffets the windows on the west side of the house.

That's the beautiful, heart-warming, "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow" side of the beginning of winter.

On the other side, the morning news is reporting highways across the area are treacherous and the Missouri Department of Transportation is advising folks who have no pressing reason to get out in this mess to stay in until things calm down and roads get cleared; one of our major interstates has been closed in the northern part of the state. The storm hit the Kansas City metro area just in time for the morning rush hour, and several major accidents have been reported.

But that's what winter is all about. You love it or you hate it - or you tolerate it and make the best out of it that you can. If you hate winter, you hate it no matter what. If you don't mind it, you've learned to take the good with the bad. If you love it - you love it. Nuff said!

Some folks stay in the warmth of their homes and bake or read a good book or just stare out the window at the beauty that is a winter storm. Others get out in the fluff and cold and enjoy life at it's brisky best. Still others climb into their caves and don't come out until spring. I just hope everyone stays safe and warm.

It won't officially be winter until sometime this weekend, and by then it will be so close to Christmas that no one will mind the white stuff.
