Frank Brown Jr., 88, of rural Marshall, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Community Cancer Center in Marshall. 'Drug dog' demo featured at Wonder Dog Day Saturday (05/04/09)
There's more than one kind of "Wonder Dog." Wonder Dog Day on Saturday, May 2, was kicked off with a demonstration of two dogs regularly used to detect drugs and track individuals by members of the Higginsville Police Department and Lafayette County Sheriff's Department. K-9 Officer Danny Logan from HPD addressed the crowd with a description and explanation of the dogs.

The Saline County 911 Commission passed an ordinance to establish a uniform rural address system for the county during its meeting Thursday, Jan. 29. Director Pam Teague expects signs to be put up beginning Monday, Feb. 16.
