Marshall School Board approves cell phone stipends

After the Marshall Public Schools Board of Education held a public meeting on Monday, Nov. 22, board members adjourned and went into closed session. During the closed session board members discussed personnel matters.

The unofficial meeting minutes said on a motion made by board member Brad Shepard, seconded by Board Vice President Matt Smith, the board unanimously accepted the resignations of the following:

— Sidney Ehrhardt, MO Options instructor, as of the end of the semester

— Tasha Goodman, part-time Benton Elementary custodian

— Adam Huse, Marshall High School PE teacher/coach, as of the end of the 2021-2022 school year

— Aimee Huse, Eastwood Elementary fourth grade teacher, as of the end of the 2021-2022 school year

— Alyssa Chastine, Benton special services, as of Oct. 15, 2021

— Teri Browder, Spainhower paraprofessional, as of Nov. 23, 2021

— Laura Jackson, part-time Adult Ed. Coordinator

— Carrie Piper-Kozloski, Southeast Elementary paraprofessional, as of Dec. 3, 2021

On a motion made by board member Erin Meyer, seconded by Shepard, the board unanimously approved a $40 month cell phone stipend for the following employees:

— Assistant Superintendent Terry Lorenz

— Special Ed. Director Grace Durham

— Laura Jacobi, director of Teaching and Learning

— MHS Principal Christy Jones

— Athletic Director Kelly Callanan

— SCCC Director Brian Wilcoxson

— Bueker Middle School Principal Paula Brown

— Spainhower Principal Kim Alberson

— Southeast Principal Rendy Maupin

— Benton Principal Gynnah Gaudreau

— Eastwood Principal Amy Heuman

— TLC Principal Ian Verts

— Craig Thompson, director of transportation

— Troy Ballew, distribution

— Sam Gibson, SRO

— Keith Wright, SRO

— Custodial Director Michael Varner

In addition to the board reviewing resignations and cell phone stipends, they also reviewed new hires on Nov. 22. The minutes said on a motion made by Meyer, seconded by board member Ellen Lance, the board unanimously approved the employment of the following:

— Linda Vieyra, part-time custodian at Benton

— Rosie Hammer, Special Olympics bowling coach, $300

— Brittany Venable, Special Olympics bowl coach, $300

— Sierra Adams, girls basketball C team coach

— Daniel Wright, digital communications director

— SPS after school tutoring/enrichment — Carrie Pomerenke; Substitutes — Lori Aldredge (Benton), Brittany Jones (Eastwood), Theresa Gittens (Any) and Jeana Wise (SPS

— Dawn Moore, after school payroll director

A motion was made by Smith, to employ Teresa Akers, as a long term sub at TLC through January. The minutes noted the motion died due to the lack of a second.

On a motion made by Lance, seconded by Shepard, the board unanimously approved the termination of Vickie Gochenour, part-time custodian at CO and Eastwood.

During the closed session, contracts for MPS Central Office administrators were discussed. The minutes explained Maher is currently in the second of her three-year contract.

On a motion made by Lance, seconded by Meyer, the board unanimously approved to allow Maher’s contract to continue into the final year.

The minutes noted Lorenz is currently in the second of his two-year contract. On a motion made by Lance, seconded by Meyer, the board approved to allow his contract to expire. The motion carried on a roll call vote:

— Ayes: Lance, Meyer, Shepard and Smith

— Nayes: Board President Bryon Jacques, Board Secretary Ed Harper and board member Harry Carrell

Lastly, the board unanimously approved to renew Special Ed. Director Grace Durham’s two-year contract and Director of Teaching and Learning Laura Jacobi’s one-year contract.
