Club News: Kiwanis meet Sept. 14
The Marshall Kiwanis Club held its regular meeting at noon Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Montague’s. Charles Ferguson offered the invocation, and Club President Sharon Crawford led the Pledge of Allegiance and called the meeting to order with 17 members in attendance.
The High School Rodeo, which was held last weekend, was deemed a great success. President Crawford complimented the membership on all of their many efforts to make this popular event well worth the effort.
The members agreed that event chairperson Pam LaFranz had done an outstanding job of coordinating the many tasks involved in keeping the club’s concession stand running smoothly.
Many of the fans and contestants made favorable comments on the quality of the foods offered, especially the steer burgers.
With the Missouri Valley College rodeo coming up Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23, 24 and 25, this will serve as a warm-up for that popular event. Members were urged to continue to assist if able for the various shifts scheduled.
Crawford reminded the membership to mark their calendars for the club’s annual Installation of Officers Banquet, which will be held at Montague’s on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
With no further business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned with President Crawford winning the $10 pot.
The next Marshall Kiwanis meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 21.
