Carol Dean Leimkuehler
Carol Dean Leimkuehler, 77, of Higginsville, Mo., died Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Lutheran Good Shepherd Home in Concordia, Mo. Carol was born Aug. 16, 1942, in Salisbury, Mo., the daughter of Charley Giles and Dora Mae (Smith) Rice. She married Gary Leimkuehler on Nov. 6, 1959, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Salisbury, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2019.
Carol was a graduate of Salisbury High School, class of 1960. She worked as an operating room technician at Lafayette Regional Hospital. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma, Mo. She was active in social and service clubs, such as the Red Hat Society and Beta Sigma Phi. Carol enjoyed cooking, music, quilting, sewing and traveling. She took great pride as an immaculate housekeeper and strong family person who put her family first.
Carol is survived by her husband, Gary, of the home; two sons, Kirk (Kim) Leimkuehler of Warsaw, Mo., and Bruce (Kimberly) Leimkuehler of Higginsville; a daughter, Susan (George) Owen of Sturgeon, Mo.; sisters, Mary Sue Butler-Bartholomew of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Connie Lang of Hutchinson, Kan.; sister-in-law Marilyn Rice of Columbia, Mo.; five grandchildren, Danielle Watkins, Kaleb Leimkuehler, Emily (John) Wilson, Luke Owen, Garret Owen; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Rice; and brother-in-law, Duane Lang.
Visitation was from 10-11 a.m., with services at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. Burial was at Fitzgerald Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma, Fitzgerald Cemetery Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
