Health department provides COVID update

The Saline County Health Department released COVID-19 statistics on Monday evening, Aug. 3.

As of Monday, there have been a total of 415 positive COVID-19 cases in the county; six of those were new last weekend. So far, there have been 357 recoveries, and seven people from Saline County have passed away.

According to SCHD, there are 51 active cases and three hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Testing continues in nearby Pettis County. The Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force reported 422 confirmed cases as of noon Monday, and approximately 153 of those were active cases. There have been four Pettis County deaths due to the coronavirus.

“There is clear community transmission. Most cases are in the Sedalia zip code, although all zip codes in the county have cases,” the task force reported. “Cases are spreading within families, as well as within social gatherings.”
