Cyril Dwane Crafton
Cyril Dwane Crafton, 86, of Joplin, Mo., formerly of Marshall, died Thursday, June 25, 2020, at Westgate of Wildwood Ranch in Joplin.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday June 30, 2020, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with Chaplain Callie Crafton and William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Social distancing will be observed at all services, and wearing a mask is strongly encouraged. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society. Born March 12, 1934, in Hayti, Mo., he was the son of the late Hugh Crafton and Pauline Adams Crafton. Dwane was raised in Pemiscot County and was a 1952 graduate of Wardell High School in Wardell. On Oct. 9, 1954, he married Cecile Naomi Bivins, who preceded him in death on June 15, 2006. He worked in the newspaper industry for many years at the Lorain Journal in Lorain, Ohio, as well as The Marshall Democrat-News, and as a custodian for the Higginsville Habilitation Center. Dwane attended the Assembly of God church.
Survivors include four children, Sheila Jo Countryman (Chris), Michael Crafton (Denise), David Crafton and Tammy Trelow (David); a daughter-in-law, Xaio Crafton; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Rowena Benson, Wilma Baker (Gary), Dwanda Myers (Bud), Edmond Crafton (Stephanie), Terrell Crafton (Brenda), Sharon Patterson (Scott) and Roger Crafton (Carol); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
Dwane was preceded in death by his parents and wife; one son, Mark Crafton; and a daughter-in-law, Bridget Crafton.
