Robert Gene Odom
Robert Gene Odom, 76, of Lima, Peru, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He received care from Vitas Hospice and lost his battle with lung cancer.
No services are planned at this time. A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date.
Robert was born on April 30, 1943, at Putnam Hospital in Marshall, Mo., to W. H. and Mary Margaret Odom. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1961 and attended Missouri Valley College. He was a member of First Christian Church in Marshall. In 2002, he married Morie Chappers in Lima, Peru. Robert worked many years in the security business, providing services to airports, prisons and private venues. He enjoyed history and politics, collected antiques, coins and cultural relics, and enjoyed traveling. Robert maintained a home in Lima and also Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He was a kind and generous man, and he loved to share stories of his adventures.
Robert is survived by three children, Jessica Harris and husband Shane of Jefferson City, Tiffany Odom of Bethlehem, Ga., and Jose Chappers and wife Mariel of Seattle; three grandchildren, Dennis Harris, Mia Chappers and Bellin Chappers; and his nephews and niece, Diego Herrera, Gonzalo Herrera, Brian White, Jason White and Jennifer White.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Ann White.
