Van Meter State Park to host Fall Lake Hike

Thursday, October 10, 2019

Do you enjoy walking in the crisp fall air and taking in the beautiful colors of fall leaves? Are you interested in learning about new plants and animals? If you answered "yes" to either of these questions, Annie and Abel Van Meter Park is hosting a “Fall Lake Hike” event on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10-11 a.m.

A guide will take patrons on a hike of Loess Hills Trail. This 1.8-mile trail circles Lake Wooldridge, an 18-acre fishing lake.

This hike will run weather permitting. In the event of heavy rain or lightning, it will be canceled. The trail terrain is rugged, with many steep hills and narrow walkways. The park advises patrons should wear appropriate footwear (no flip-flops) and bring insect repellent.
