Marshall Nazarene to celebrate 70 years
This coming weekend, the Marshall Church of the Nazarene will be celebrating 70 years of ministry to the community, and all are invited to join in the festivities.
The church held its first service on June 12, 1949. On Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13, church members have several events scheduled.
Saturday, Oct. 12
4-5:30 p.m., fellowship and reconnecting
5:30-6:30 p.m., dinner together in the Family Life Center
6:30 p.m., Sanctuary Festival of Music
Sunday, Oct. 13
9:30-10:10 a.m., adults meet and greet; children in Sunday School
10:15 a.m. to noon, 70th anniversary celebration service in the sanctuary
Noon, potluck/carry-in dinner in the Family Life Center
The special guest speaker will be the Rev. Don Smith. According to Anniversary Committee Chairman Wilma DeGraffenreid, the Kansas City District Superintendent authorized the church to launch a new program involving Don and Sandy on that day. The community, previous church members and pastors are encouraged to attend. A block of rooms has been reserved at Comfort Inn, in Marshall.
