Letter to the Editor: POW/MIA recognition

Thursday, September 19, 2019

Dear Editor,

On Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, I ask you to join me to reflect upon the extraordinary sacrifices made on behalf of our country by the POW/MIAs. Sept. 20 is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. We honor our nation’s heroes who knew hostility of war and the anguish of captivity.

Our late president, John F. Kennedy, made this statement: “A nation reveals itself not only by the men it produces, but also by the men it honors, the men it remembers.” So let us unite and vow in our hearts that they will not be forgotten. America owes the brave men and women our gratitude and honor.

Freedom is not free, freedoms come with a price. So let us remember the POW/MIAs who fought to protect our freedom and lost theirs, and we pray for those engaged in today’s struggles to protect our freedoms for future generations. May God bless America!
