Club News: Kiwanis Club meets July 9

Thursday, July 11, 2019

The Marshall Kiwanis Club held its regular meeting at noon Tuesday, July 9, at “The Rock” First Presbyterian Church on East North Street.

Club President Charles Ferguson offered the invocation, led the Pledge of Allegiance, and called the meeting to order, with 22 members in attendance.

A sign-up sheet was distributed for members to assist in the club’s part of the “Day in the Park” being held Saturday, July 20, at Indian Foothills Park.

Jack Uhrig proceeded to regale the club with bits of humor from his growing up years. Uhrig introduced himself as “The Carroll County Redneck.” He also presented criteria that would enable one to become a “Saline County Redneck.” Upon completion, he received a round of applause, and it was determined that if he would like to take on a second career, it just might be as a stand-up comic.

Jack Lenz won the $12 pot, and the meeting was adjourned.

The next Kiwanis meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 16.
