Betty J. Kennedy
Betty J. Kennedy, 88, of Sedalia, formerly of Marshall, died Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Loy Hoskins and William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born Sept. 28, 1930, in Saline County, Mo., she was the daughter of the late A.D. Halsey and Laura Hall Halsey. Betty was a graduate of Marshall High School and a member of First Christian Church. On July 22, 1950, she married Donald R. Kennedy, who survives. She lived in Marshall most of her life, having lived in Sedalia the last 20 years. Betty was a beautician and a caretaker for her parents and the elderly in her home. She loved cooking, baking, music and dancing. Betty was very independent and not afraid to take on any and all tasks.
In addition to her husband, Donald, Betty is survived by six children, Donna Pointer (Lacy) of Sedalia, Lolly Morrow (Barry) of Deepwater, Steve Kennedy (Debbie) of Sedalia, Fred Kennedy (Jana) of Cole Camp, John Kennedy (Laura) of Warrensburg and Paul Kennedy (Christi) of Kansas City; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, James L. Halsey, William Halsey, Lester (Tince) Halsey, Paul Halsey and Kenneth D. Halsey; and three sisters, Anna Belle McGraw, Imogene Laxson and Francie Pointer.
