Bobby Davis Dickens
Bobby Davis Dickens, 58, of Marshall, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019, at his home after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, at First United Methodist Church in Marshall. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, at the church, with Pastor Sandy Nenadal officiating. A second memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Bluff Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville, Miss., with the Rev. Louis C. Smith officiating. Memorials may be made to family choice.
Born Jan. 6, 1961, in Batesville, Miss., Bobby was the son of the late Willie Edward Dickens and the late Mrs. Inez Gray. He grew up in Batesville and obtained his education in the Panola County School District.
On March 5, 2003, in Kansas City, he married the love of his life, Angela (Ashford) Dickens. He had been a youth services worker and was very active in his church and community. He enjoyed traveling, camping, Jim the Wonder Dog, and being with family. Family trips were very important to Bobby. He loved spending as much time as he could with his family and friends. He loved life to the fullest and tried to live that way.
Bobby leaves to cherish his loving memories a devoted wife, Angela Dickens of Marshall; one daughter, Latoya M. Dickens of Jacksonville, Fla.; two granddaughters, Legaci Clark and Propheci Turner, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; six sisters, Sherry Hall of Courtland, Miss., Beatrice Pryor (Chester) of Southaven, Miss., Carnell Denise Jones, Maryann Weathers (Charles) and Margie Faye Scruggs (Bill), all of St. Louis, Mo., and Linda Robinson of Hinesville, Ga.; two brothers, Leon Thompson (Frankie) of Oxford, Miss., and Henry Thompson (Lucille) of Batesville, Miss.; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends; and his in-laws, Larry and LaDonna Arrowood of Marshall.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Earl Dickens and James Edward Dickens.
