Concordia 10, Sweet Springs 9

SWEET SPRINGS -- Concordia broke open an 8-8 tie with two runs in the top of the eighth inning Tuesday and held on Tuesday for a 10-9 decision at Sweet Springs.

The Orioles looked like they were going to run away with the game after taking an 8-0 lead with a six-run third inning, junior Peyton Moore driving in one run with a single and sophomore Dante Stockwell singling in two more.

The Greyhounds sliced the deficit in half in the sixth as walks forced in the first three runs and junior Hunter Sims bringing in the last one with a single. Juniors Jacob Hall and Jarret Fuehring both stroke two-run doubles in the seventh to tie the game.

A single and walk put runners on base to start the eighth for Concordia (10-1), both plated by senior Lane Mueller's triple. Senior Nick Ortzian walked, stole a base and came in on junior Logan Sua's single, but Sweet Springs couldn't get the tying run across.

The 'Hounds (3-4) are set to travel to New Franklin on Thursday.
