Arlene Mae Borgman
Arlene Mae Borgman, 95, of Slater, died Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at the Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Saline City, with Pastors Walter Snyder and Scott Lemmermann officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the services at the church. Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Ascension Lutheran Church, or the Brain Donor Project, in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born April 17, 1923, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Hulda Klasing Blumhorst. On Sept. 19, 1943, she married Edwin Borgman, who preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 2005. Mrs. Borgman was a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church in Raytown. During the 1940's, she worked at the Blosser Children's Convalescent Home in Marshall, helping children recover from surgeries and serious illnesses such as Polio. She later worked, helping children with Cerebral Palsy, and also in the mental health field. She had lived in the Raytown/Kansas City area since 1954, returning to Saline County in 2018.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Trisha Muro and her husband Kenji of Chicago; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Borgman of Chicago; two great-grandchildren, Takato Muro and Kumiko Muro; a goddaughter, Kathryn "Kathy" Borgman of Arrow Rock; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Edwin Borgman; a brother, Roy Blumhorst; and a sister, Patricia Bethke.
