Leona C. (Markes) Fladung
Leona C. (Markes) Fladung passed away January 15th, 2019, at the age of 81.
Leona was born March 17, 1937 and grew up in the Shackelford and Marshall, Missouri area. As a young woman, Leona moved to Kansas City where she married John R. Fladung (divorced 1986). They adopted two children, Robert in 1967 and Debra in 1970. They made their family home in Stilwell, Kansas. Leona enjoyed painting ceramics, gardening flowers, decorating cakes and making gingerbread houses at Christmas. She enjoyed sewing homemade dresses and clothes for her daughter and nieces as well as a few Barbie dolls. Leona worked as a secretary at the Blue Valley School District, with the Bayer Corporation in Stilwell and Scoular in Overland Park. After retirement, Leona volunteered at the Sanctuary of Hope in Kansas City, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Trebor Fladung.
Survived by children Robert Fladung, Debra (Kenny Kellison); grandchildren Donielle Whiteman (Justin Buzzard), Cameron Whiteman, Shayla (Kale Hoffmann), Andrew Kellison; and great-granddaughter Ellie Buzzard.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. prior to a funeral mass at 11 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2019, at St. Peterís Catholic Church, Marshall, Mo. The committal ceremony will take place at Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall, immediately following mass. In lieu of flowers, Leona has requested that donations be made to Sanctuary of Hope at 2601 Ridge Ave, Kansas City, Kansas 66102.
