Crisps win $79K in Show Me Cash
On Aug. 4, Will Crisp was on his way to the races in Eldon when he stopped at the Pop Shop, 470 N. Miami Ave., in Marshall, to pick up sodas. He decided to add four Show Me Cash tickets to his total: two for the drawing that night and two for the next night’s drawing. He placed the tickets in the console of his truck and went on his way.
As he and his wife, Margaret, were driving through town a few days later, Will remembered the unchecked tickets.
“I thought, ‘Better check my tickets while I’m here,’” said the Marshall resident, explaining how he checked the numbers on his phone while his wife was driving. “I kept looking back from the phone to the ticket, and I said, ‘I think I just won $79,000!’”
“And I said, ‘Aw, you’re lying to me,’” Margaret laughed.
Will had the Official Missouri Lottery App downloaded on his phone and used it to scan the ticket to show his wife he was telling the truth. His ticket matched all five numbers for the Aug. 4 drawing: 3, 22, 23, 25 and 28.
“By this time, she had pulled over,” laughed Will.
The couple took every precaution they could to keep the ticket safe until they could claim it the next day. They even put it in a zip lock bag for extra measure.
Will and Margaret plan to use the money to pay off bills and take a vacation.
“It’s life changing for us,” shared Margaret.
“Show Me Cash” is a daily Draw Game with jackpots starting at $50,000 that grow until won. The Crisp’s winning ticket marks the 29th Show Me Cash jackpot won in 2018 and the 522nd jackpot won since sales for the Draw Game began in 2008.
All current Missouri Lottery Draw Games tickets can be scanned on the Lottery’s mobile app or on Check-A-Ticket machines at retail to determine if a ticket is a winner. Current and historical winning numbers can also be found at MOLottery.com.
