Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 7/10/2018

Receipts: 2601 Two Weeks Ago: 2364 Year Ago: 1525

Compared to two weeks ago, steers and heifers traded 2.00-10.00 higher with
the most advance on 550-725 lb heifers and 600-800 lb steers. Most of the
cattle had been long time weaned and vaccinated with most in moderate to
light flesh conditions and several yearlings in the mix. The quality was good
all day and demand was good to very good, best for 550-700 lb heifers
and steers over 500 lbs. Following a higher fed cattle trade last week,
buyers felt confident in the market and were eager to own cattle. Supply was
moderate to heavy for this time of year as cattle continue to make their way
to town, some sooner than usual as producers want to conserve forage. The
feeder offering was made up of near 46 percent steers and bulls and 54
percent heifers with 56 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls totaled 15
percent of the offering. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 higher.
