Saline County Fair: Public Speaking, Demonstrations judged during county fair’s first day
Several competitors participated in the Public Speaking and Demonstrations portion of the Saline County Fair on Saturday, July 7.
The events took place in the Multipurpose Building at Saline County Fairground.
Nine participants took home blue ribbons, and a majority are eligible to compete at the Missouri State Fair in August.
In the FFA Prepared Speaking category, Haley Baker was named Grand Champion with the speech “The Stinky Cow Farm.”
In Senior Prepared Speaking, Cole Murphy was named Grand Champion with “Life Lessons from Exhibiting Livestock.” He is eligible for the state fair.
Andi Goodon was Grand Champion in Intermediate Prepared Speaking with “Love.” Taylor Smith was named reserve Grand Champion in the same category with “Wildfire.” Both are eligible for the state fair.
For Junior Prepared Speaking, Ty Murphy was named Grand Champion with “4-H Camp Experience,” and Karlea Bolser was named reserve champion with “Turtles.” Both are eligible for the state fair.
Nikki Gooden was named grand champion in Senior Extemp Speaking. Andi Gooden was named champion in Intermediate Extemp Speaking. Both are eligible for the state fair.
Also eligible for the state fair is Josey Bartlett, who was named grand champion in Intermediate Dramatic Presentation with “To This Day.”
Demonstrations will remain set up in the building for public viewing throughout the fair this week.
