Interstate crash injures 2 Tuesday
Two people were injured Tuesday afternoon, May 22, when they were involved in a three-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer.
At approximately 3:20 p.m., a 2018 Nissan Rogue — driven by Andrew Blattner, 26, of Manhattan, Kan. — was traveling west on Interstate 70 when it overtook and struck the rear of a 2006 International, a Missouri State Highway Patrol report said. A third vehicle — a 2009 Buick driven by David Jacobs, 71, of Sweet Springs — then struck the Nissan.
Jacobs sustained minor injuries, and his occupant — Dorothy Knipmeyer, 94, of Sweet Springs — received moderate injuries. They were both transported to an area hospital by Saline County Ambulance District for treatment.
The crash occurred on I-70 near the 67.6-mile marker. All persons involved were wearing safety devices.
