Two people were injured Tuesday afternoon, May 22, when they were involved in a three-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., a 2018 Nissan Rogue driven by Andrew Blattner, 26, of Manhattan, Kan. was traveling west on Interstate 70 when it overtook and struck the rear of a 2006 International, a Missouri State Highway Patrol report said. A third vehicle a 2009 Buick driven by David Jacobs, 71, of Sweet Springs then struck the Nissan.

Jacobs sustained minor injuries, and his occupant Dorothy Knipmeyer, 94, of Sweet Springs received moderate injuries. They were both transported to an area hospital by Saline County Ambulance District for treatment.

The crash occurred on I-70 near the 67.6-mile marker. All persons involved were wearing safety devices.
