MSDC hears tourism updates

During a Marshall-Saline Development Corporation meeting Tuesday, May 8, Tourism Coordinator Mary Keller gave a tourism update.

According to meeting minutes, Keller reported the Marshall Cultural Council will be sponsoring the Ozark Mountain Daredevils concert, which is set to be held Saturday, July 7, at the Saline County Fairground Amphitheater.

“It’s going to be really cool out at the amphitheater,” Keller said at a previous meeting. “They have a year lease with the fairgrounds. This is a group from the ‘70s, ... they do limited engagements every year, and they have chosen Marshall to be one of those limited engagements on July 7.”

The Marshall Cultural Council is also planning a “Shopping Under the Sun” event on the square, which will be held in August.

According to meeting minutes, the Wine Walk – previously planned for the same time as the Spring Fling on the Marshall Square – has been postponed. Keller said the council will continue to work with the Marshall Chamber of Commerce on rescheduling the event.

The Marshall-Saline Development Corporation will meet again Tuesday, June 12.
