Anne Melissa Gibbs Hooper, 47, of Marshall, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2018, at First Christian Church in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the church. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Midwest Transplant Network in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Born Aug. 6, 1970, in Kansas City, Anne was the daughter of the late Robert Clark Gibbs Jr. and Donna Oehler Gibbs Bailey and Tom Bailey, who survive of Liberty. Anne lived in Marshall most of her life and was a 1988 graduate of Marshall High School, a graduate of Missouri Valley College and currently working for the Division of Family Services where she had been employed for almost 20 years. On Oct. 22, 1994, she married Sheldon Lance Hooper, who survives of the home. She was a member of First Christian Church and Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. Anne had a double lung transplant on May 6, 2016, and was able to celebrate the last two years of her life with family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Sheldon, and her mother and stepfather, Donna and Tom, Anne is survived by one son, John Robert Hooper of the home; one stepdaughter, Madison Hooper; two step-grandchildren, Olin and Adelaide; one sister, Kelly Elizabeth Gibbs Norwood; two stepsisters, Linda Kay Bailey Alspach and Bryanne Bailey; one stepbrother, Richard Alan Bailey and wife Gale; one sister-in-law, Susan Smith and husband Gary; one brother-in-law, Stewart Hooper and wife Karen; numerous nieces and nephews; one aunt, Dorothy Lee Gibbs Mamel; two uncles, Roy Franklin Oehler III and wife Machiko, and William Dennis Oehler and wife Jeanne; and several cousins.

Anne was preceded in death by her father; paternal grandparents, Robert Clark Gibbs Sr. and Carolyn Worrell Gibbs; her maternal grandparents, Roy Franklin Oehler Jr. and Margaret Benoodt Oehler Hamner; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clayton B. Hooper and Laura Biggs Hooper.
