Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 4/3/2018

Receipts: 1310 Week Ago: 1375 Year Ago: 1130

Compared to last week few true comparisons could be made, however the thinner
fleshed yearlings sold steady with a couple spots even a few dollars higher and
were by far in the most demand. Calves and fleshier yearling cattle sold with a
lower undertone and some of the heavier weight, fleshier calves saw extreme
discounts as those type of cattle haven’t had the time to put on the frame
corresponding to their weight. The overall direction of the market has remained
lower the last several weeks and Tuesday June and August live cattle fell to
under a 1.00 on the CME. Supply was mostly moderate to light with some thin
yearlings seeing good demand. The feeder offering was made up of near 49 percent
steers and bulls and 51 percent heifers with 52 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and
bulls totaled 15 percent of the offering. Slaughter cows sold 2.00-3.00 higher,
slaughter bulls sold 3.00-4.00 higher.
