Fred Joseph Ordway
Fred Joseph Ordway, 99, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Marshall, died Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, Calif.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at 9 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in South Pasadena, Calif., with Fa. Denis Maher officiating. Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery in Los Angeles, Calif. Pallbearers were Fred Ordway Jr., Fred Ordway III, Daniel Ordway, Lester Ordway, George Ordway and Robert Crook.
Fred was born on Feb. 20, 1919, in Marshall, the son of Lester Ordway and Elizabeth Solomon. He lived in Marshall until 1938. He was of the Catholic faith. On Aug. 20, 1950, he married Josephine Janeck in Los Angeles, Calif., who preceded him in death. He was self-employed. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific.
Survivors include sons, Fred Ordway of Minden, Nev., Daniel Ordway of Corona, Calif., Lester Ordway of Los Angeles, Calif., and George Ordway of Castaic, Calif.; daughters, Mary Henisey of Reno, Nev., and Patty Crook of Santa Maria, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a first cousin, Pete Solomon of Marshall.
In addition to his wife, Josephine, he was preceded in death by brothers, Peter, Lester, Paul and Frank; and sisters, Lillian, Mary, Helen and Ruth.
