Dear Marshall voters,

I wanted to voice my opinion on the upcoming city council election. I live in Ward II and my councilman is Kirk Arends. Iím writing in support of Mr. Arends for his reelection. One area that is very important to me, and I believe he has helped improve upon, is the appearance of our town. I have lived in Marshall for 71 years and I have witnessed firsthand Marshall gradually declining in appearance. Mr. Arends was a part of the council that not only took swift action on dangerous buildings falling down near the square, but also has torn down numerous unsightly houses throughout the town. For the first time ever, a budgeted line item was created in the city budget for demolitions and cleanup projects for the foreseeable future. Oh, and by the way, city employees with the cityís equipment are doing the demolitions now, saving the taxpayers of this city thousands of dollars, which enables them to tear down/clean up more for less.

There is a lot more work to be done in this area and this will be a long process. However, I believe Mr. Arends and the current city council is on the correct path to success for the city of Marshall. Ward II voters, please consider reelecting Kirk Arends on April 3.
