Rose Mary ‘Rosie’ Schlotzhauer

Rose Mary “Rosie” Schlotzhauer, 84, of Marshall, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall, with Fr. Mark Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Inurnment will be in Ridge Park Cemetery. Born May 28, 1933, in Boonville, Rosie was the daughter of the late Andrew “Andy” Markes and Elizabeth “Lizzy” Bucher Markes. She lived in Saline County her entire life and was a graduate of Mercy Academy in Marshall. On Oct. 28, 1953, she married James L. “Jim” Schlotzhauer, who survives. She retired from the Saline County Clerk’s office after 35 years of service. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.

In addition to her husband, Jim, Rosie is survived by three children, Joe Schlotzhauer and wife Cathy of Marshall, Vernon Schlotzhauer and wife Donna of Richmond, and Beth Vogel and husband Dave of Marshall; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four siblings, William “Bill” Markes and wife Wanda of Odessa, Albert Markes and wife Alice of rural Marshall, Leona Fladung of Kansas City, and Gene Markes and wife Kay of rural Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
